Friend Jesus

This week we looked at the story of Zacchaeus — and a tension a lot of us feel when it comes to friends caught up in sin. We tend to land in one of two places: keep them at arm's length, or get pulled into the sin right alongside them.

Jesus does neither. He walks straight up to Zacchaeus, invites himself to dinner, and brings him close without ever condoning what Zacchaeus was doing or joining in himself. He shows us a third way: reaching toward people without losing yourself in what they're caught up in.
